For over 10 years, I worked in Residence Life at both Brock University, and the University of Toronto, back home in Canada. I dealt with any crisis or situation that may have went bump in the night. Roommate conflicts, event planning, hiring of staff, catering ordering. Working in residence, you sort of do a little bit of everything. What I really loved was training, coaching, and advising. Having those tough conversations where something truly valuable was uncovered, sharing those light bulb moments, and being a piece of someone’s personal growth. I loved helping people achieve their potential, and figure out what they really wanted from their job, their hobbies, their community, and themselves. I decided to focus more on the stuff that I loved. My first step was gaining certifications through Gallup and their incredible Strengths Finder work. I then focused on pursuing certifications and specializations to become a Life Coach with a specialization in Positive Psychology (here comes the resume for those interested :) ).
